Bug Removal

Bug removal. Whether it’s a car or an RV, it is one of the toughest jobs when it comes to keeping your vehicle looking good. Any RV owner, no matter what class of RV they have, has a large area to keep clean and free of bugs. Our fifth wheel is no exception. There is a lot of surface area taking direct hits from all those bugs that get in our way.

I’ve tried several different brands of bug removers over the years and have struggled with how well they work. One problem I’ve found with almost all of them is that they don’t work well in the sun. They either dry too quickly or turn into a paste before you have a chance to wipe them off. If you have the ability to move your RV under cover or happen to get a lot of cloudy days, you’re in good shape. I don’t have a place in the shade, and it seems like the sun always decides to come out when I wash our rig.

Meguiar’s has a Foaming Bug & Tar Remover in their product line, so I thought I would give it a try. It was a hot, sunny day when I washed our rig, and the directions say not to use it on a hot surface. I parked the rig so the front wasn’t in direct sunlight and sprayed on the foam.

It covered the surface well, and I let it sit for about a minute. It started to run a little, so I began wiping it off. I was impressed. The bug remnants came off without having to scrub very hard, and the surface shined right up.

Meguiar’s isn’t compensating me for saying this, and I purchased the product myself. I’m simply passing along something that worked well for me.
