If You Smell Propane, Don’t Ignore It Almost all of the tips I share come from our own experiences since buying our fifth wheel. Thankfully, this isn’t one of them. Unfortunately, every year people are injured—or worse—because of propane leaks and accidents involving RVs. Recently, I read about a couple who were seriously injured when…
Who Should Use Them? Every so often, campground etiquette becomes a hot topic on RV social media groups. Most of the discussions are pretty straightforward. Pick up after your dog. Observe quiet hours. Respect your neighbors. Almost everyone agrees on those. Then there are the topics where opinions vary. One that seems to come up…
Ride Your Own Ride…Drive Your Own Drive If you’ve followed this site for a while, you know that Pat and I enjoy both RVing and motorcycling. Whenever we can, we combine the two. Since we don’t own a toy hauler, getting the motorcycle to our destination takes a little planning. Thankfully, Pat enjoys driving and…
We have officially arrived in sunny Florida, where we’ll be spending the next six months. We’ll head back to Minnesota for the holidays, but for now we’re looking forward to escaping the snow and cold while enjoying a slower pace of life. Tragically, the husband lost his life after leaving the RV to seek help. I’m not going to critique their decisions or the events that followed. There has been…
Campground Cancellation Policies: Finding the Right Balance The RV boom that began during COVID continues to affect campers and campground owners in many ways. One of the biggest changes has been campsite availability. At many popular campgrounds, especially on weekends, reservations need to be made months in advance—sometimes a year or more. The problem is…
Becoming Snowbirds For years, Pat and I have talked about spending the winter somewhere warm. In a way, we’ve already been doing it, just a couple of weeks at a time. Every winter we’d head south, enjoy the sunshine, and then reluctantly return home to snow and cold. This year is different. This year, we’re…
Camping and Severe Weather: Be Prepared The snow is slowly disappearing, the days are getting longer, and camping season is finally here. Whether you travel in a motorhome, fifth wheel, travel trailer, or pop-up camper, one thing remains the same: Pay attention to the weather. Over the past few weeks, much of the southern United…
