End of the Season 2025
Today, Pat and I put the cover on Casa Roll for another Minnesota winter.
Covering a thirty nine foot fifth wheel isn’t exactly a quick job, but this was our fourth time doing it, and we’ve finally developed a system that works. What once seemed like a major project now goes pretty smoothly.
Still, putting the camper away for the season always makes me a little sad.
It means winter is just around the corner.
At the same time, it’s a chance to look back on another year of adventures and appreciate the memories we’ve made.
We kicked off the season with a three week trip to San Antonio and South Padre Island, Texas. One of our daughters joined us for part of the trip, and we still laugh about pulling into the passenger pickup lane at the Harlingen Airport while towing our fifth wheel. The looks from other drivers and even airport security were priceless.
The season also included a weekend in Wisconsin with our grandsons’ hockey families, an annual tradition we always enjoy. We returned to Lanesboro for more time on the river trails with our e bikes and made three trips to Two Harbors, our favorite destination in Minnesota. The North Shore has become our place to slow down, recharge, and simply enjoy the beauty of Lake Superior.
The highlight of the year was our trip to Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks.
Our good friends Joe and Kathy joined us, and we couldn’t have asked for a better travel experience. The weather cooperated, the scenery exceeded every expectation, and aside from one minor equipment issue, everything went according to plan.
Looking back, we’ve been fortunate.
Casa Roll has now traveled more than 20,000 miles. Considering some of the stories we’ve heard from fellow RVers dealing with breakdowns and major repairs, we’ve been blessed. We’ve had a few maintenance issues over the years, but nothing that has significantly interrupted our travels.
We’re thankful for that and hope it continues for many miles to come.
Of course, putting the camper away also means it’s time to start thinking about next year.
We already have one major trip on the calendar and have begun making reservations for several weekend getaways. Half the fun of RVing is planning where the next adventure will take us.
