Inverters and Converters

Winter has settled in here in Minnesota, and this year we’re staying home.

The biggest reason is a very good one.

Our newest grandson, Jack, arrived in early December. That brings us to twelve grandchildren, and we didn’t want to miss the opportunity to spend time with the newest member of the family.

We’ll still be heading south this year, just a little later than usual. Our trip is planned for April. Technically that’s spring, but after a Minnesota winter it still feels like we’re escaping to warmer weather.

With Casa Roll tucked away for the season, there isn’t much happening on the camping front right now. Instead, I’ve been spending some time reading and learning more about different RV systems.

Recently, a close friend had his inverter fail unexpectedly. He called me to help diagnose the problem, and while we worked through it, I realized there was still more I wanted to learn about how inverters and generators work.

That led me to an article I thought was worth sharing.

It does a nice job explaining the differences between inverters and generators, how each one works, and when you would use one over the other. Whether you’re new to RVing or simply want a better understanding of your RV’s electrical system, I think you’ll find it informative.

The article does contain a few advertisements, but they aren’t intrusive, and the information is well presented.
