Don’t Be This Guy #1

I came across a photo today that immediately caught my attention.

Take a look at the picture that accompanies this post.

Simply put, don’t be this guy.

The first question that came to mind was, “What were they thinking?”

The photo shows two large propane cylinders mounted on the front of a vehicle. Not only are they located at what would likely be the first point of impact in a collision, but they also appear to be lying on their sides instead of standing upright.

That combination should concern anyone who spends time around propane.

Even if you set aside whether this setup complies with transportation regulations, it certainly doesn’t strike me as a safe way to carry propane.

The danger isn’t limited to the person driving the vehicle.

Everyone else sharing the road is placed at risk as well.

The person who originally posted the photo said it was taken at an RV park where they worked. No other details were provided, so I can’t comment on where it happened or whether the setup was legal.

What I can say is this.

Good judgment is one of the most important safety features on any RV.

As RVers, we do a great job helping one another. We answer questions, lend tools, offer advice, and help complete strangers back into campsites.

That’s one of the things I enjoy most about this community.

Sometimes, though, helping means speaking up when we see something that could seriously injure someone.

None of us likes being told we’re doing something wrong, but there are times when safety has to come before feelings.

If you see a fellow camper doing something that could put themselves or others in danger, approach them respectfully. They may not realize the risk or simply may never have been shown the proper way to do it.

A friendly conversation today could prevent a tragedy tomorrow.

One of the best parts of the RV lifestyle is looking out for one another.

Let’s continue doing exactly that.
